There were 15 different vendors, a few mechanics and a whole host of consumers at the HHO Gathering, checking out the latest gas savers on the market.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Perhaps, the largest HHO event is yet to come, however, hosted in Florida. Ever heard of ethanol? They mix it with the gas at all the pumps. It’s acting like water in our gas tank. It’s nearly killed both our vehicles. We have gone from a two-car family to a no-car family in two weeks.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;The hydroxy, on the other hand, is the only thing keeping the truck alive. It’s totally dependent upon it. And my car-besides the fact that it is not a hybrid yet and had no problems last time we drove it to put gas in it-we let it sit for two or three days while driving around the truck, and the bad gas has made it not want to crank anymore now. scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='runcaronwater'/><title type='text'>Installing an HHO Generator in Fuel Injected Vehicles</title><content type='html'>Fuel Injection and EFIE Basics&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fuel injected vehicles use an onboard computer and electronic sensing devices to monitor and maintain the correct air/fuel ratio for engine combustion. One of the key sensing devices is the oxygen sensor. Fuel injected vehicles have one or more oxygen sensors installed in line with the exhaust exhaust system. The computer calculates what the air/fuel ratio is based on the amount of oxygen that the oxygen sensor(s) report is in the exhaust.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When a fuel saving device is installed, such as a hydroxy electrolyzer (HHO gas generator), the petroleum based fuel is burned much more completely. One of the results of this is that there is more oxygen (and less unburned fuel hydrocarbons) in the exhaust stream. This is a good thing, and exactly what we are trying to achieve by adding an HHO system. But the computer will interpret this condition as a "too lean" air/fuel mix. In other words, what is now a desirable condition in the exhaust, will be interpreted as "not enough gas", and the computer will direct the fuel injectors to dump more gas into the engine.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The result is that the oxygen sensor and computer prevent efficient combustion from occurring! And without intervention on our part, this will actually deteriorate a vehicle's mpg and performance.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Solution&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The oxygen sensor "tells" the computer what the oxygen content is by providing a voltage on it's signal wire between 0 and 1 volt. 450 millivolts (.45 volts) means that the fuel/air mixture is correct. Higher values means the mix is rich (has too much gas), and lower voltages means the mix is lean. By adding voltage to the sensor's output, we can compensate for the additional oxygen in the exhaust.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;An Electronic Fuel Injection Enhancer (EFIE) does exactly this. It adds a floating voltage to the top of whatever the oxygen sensor is putting out. It has an adjustment that allows you to control, to within a few millivolts, the amount of this added voltage. This function of the electronic fuel injection ehancer (EFIE) effectively prevents the computer from sensing the additional oxygen content of the exhaust, and the HHO generator system can now achieve it's full potential in fuel savings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Most cars have oxygen sensors both before and after the catalytic converter. The ones behind, or downstream from the converter do not need to be modified with an EFIE. Their purpose of their data readings is used to determine is or when the catalytic converter has gone bad. They are not used in the air/fuel calculations. Today my father-in-law sent me a video about a guy who built a welder powered by water, then rigged his car up to run on the same gas. You can find the video and the concept here.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The gas is has several names, such as HHO, Brown’s Gas, Rhode’s Gas, and more. They all seem to refer to the same thing - the electrolysis of water. To paraphrase the linked site, this stuff implodes rather than explodes, so is much safer to use. Its burn temperature is related to whatever it’s burning; the guy above held his hand in front of the flame without effect, then burned a hole through a fire brick and melted metals.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He’s patented his process and calls it Aquygen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So why haven’t we heard more about this? My guess is it’s still not cost-effective enough to make it practical. You still need electricity to separate the hydrogen and oxygen and recombine them, creating a sort of paradox. And they don’t say how much energy is required, though I did find this site which does.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Given the rise in energy costs, especially in fossil fuels and oil/gasoline, I wonder if the process will become more effective. The cost of the energy to keep the process going would not have to fall as fast if the cost of current methods continue to rise to meet it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Related advances may make it easier, too. There are new batteries in the works that pack twice the power of current lithium ion batteries and they charge in a fraction of the time. Check out the article here — not the one I read a while back, but it looks like the same tech.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I wonder if the technologies could be combined in a car? Yeah, you’d probably have to charge the batteries off the grid, but at least you could run the car on water and have clean emissions. (Unless these batteries can take better advantage of solar energy… No idea how that relates. I’m not a physicist by any stretch.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Of course, this is all pure speculation. For all we know the company is charging a small fortune to license the technology, making it even tougher to bring the costs down. But today, I found a very cool story on a company in Florida with a device called Hydro 4000. But what's unique about the Hydro 4000 is they have a public demonstration documented by a local news station in Florida. The news station actually installed the unit on their NEWS TRUCK! They did a before and after test on a dynamometer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Their results: 9mpg before the unit was installed. 23mpg after the unit was installed. 61% better!!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The price on these units range from $1200 for regular passenger vehicles to $7000 for large tractor trailors. They offer many testimonials from folks who have built the device and who have varying claims of success doubling fuel efficiency. Concerning ROI, the authors point out that if your vehicle operates at 20mpg and you drive 2000 mi/month youre spending $300/month in gas. If you can extend efficiency by 35%, you'll save yourself $120/month. In addition, Water4Gas will explain how to take advantage of tax deductions offered by the IRS for green auto technologies. Whatever you call them, the more fundamental question is which one is the best kit to invest in and why? In my evaluation of these kits I used two main criteria: proven results and ongoing support. I've spoken to representatives at several of the companies that make these kits and I invite you to do the same. The one question which always in the back of my mind in talking with them is how do they handle things when something doesnt go well? Can you get ahold of them? Are they responsive? Are they genuinely interested in making sure you are satisfied with the product? To get to a happy place in this sphere, you have to start with someone who is a perfectionist about his craft. Second, you have to have a little bit of attitude because that's often time what drives people to be perfect.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm happy to say that Punch HHO excels at all of these characteristics. They offer 4 units, 2 for smaller than 5 liter engines and 2 for larger than 5 liter engines. The lower cost units are PVC based and the higher cost units are stainless steel. I recommend the stainless steel units for durability and aesthetics but go with the PVC if you're trying to save a buck (which you might be obviously if you're looking to purchase one of these kits.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Additionally, Punch HHO does something no other vendor does today which I think sets them apart. They recommend that you acquire the Water4Gas ebooks to help with your installation--although their kits are easy to install--they think the ebooks are well done and will help you navigate through any unforeseen issues. The kits do come with their own instructions but again, the Water4Gas books provide good background on how all of this technology works. Secondly, Punch HHO points out clearly that if you have a fuel injected engine, you need an EFIE to get the kit to work. You're going to find lots of kits and parts folks out there who are selling kits without pointing this out. Essentially, when you put an HHO kit on a fuel injected engine, it changes the oxygen value upstream from the catalytic converter and cause the system to add more gas to compensate. The EFIE corrects this and enables you to achieve the full benefits of the HHO.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We're always looking for better HHO kits but for now, your money is best spent with Punch HHO. They were the first manufacturer to list themselves in the WaterFueling.com Directory.   Since they started producing HHO generators less than a year ago, they have sold hundreds of units ranging in price from $200 for the Mileage Master to $399 for the Mileage Miracle.   I asked them about their business and although they do support individual sales via their website, they are focused on sales via Dealerships.  I am told that several of their dealers are going through their second and third round of orders, selling out kits pretty rapidly. Also, they mentioned one dealer in particular who has been selling kits at car shows quite successfully.   They've also offered me some help in tracking down some of their satisfied customers to grab a few insights.
